For the first task i.e #gounescoselfie I had gone to Dilli Haat. For this task, the final task I visited the Red Fort. Having adorned the high walls whenever I saw this mighty structure since my childhood, I finally visited the Red Fort for the first time. Delhi winters coupled with the shining sun and a dash of excitement I was all set. Having been part of this wonderful programme by GoUnesco I got to learn more about heritage and culture around the globe. This programme has definitely expanded my thinking about heritage in every sense.

Passing the long entry queues I reached the Lahore Gate past which is a small lane of shops selling antiques and some other unique stuffs. All in all the Red fort is a marvel in itself with speaks volumes of the Mughal legacy. All structures are pieces of excellent craftsmanship which only left me in awe of the rich heritage of the Mughals which is far beyond my understanding.

A few suggestions I feel that need consideration-

  • Apart from the information panels and the panels outside the pavilions inside, there there not much information to the rescue of those who aren’t acquaint with English if they don’t take the tour guide or the audio guide.
  • Pamphlets/ brochures covering the map and the pavilions inside the fort could be made available on chargeable basis (to check unnecessary wastage).
  • The renovation work by ASI going on inside the fort depicted a picture that of low maintenance because of the nearby lying construction material.
