Stayed at
Gander (with friends) and cabins on the way up and down

I visited L’Anse Aux Meadows just after finishing first year of my archaeology degree. I was staying with friends in Gander, Newfoundland, who asked if I’d like to go. I had no idea it was a 4 day round trip!!! I only have a couple of photos (taken on a film camera – those were the days!!) and this is way pre-selfie, but I remember it being a sparkling sunny day on the coast and the Viking houses appearing as vague lumps in the ground! Not much to see after such a long drive! But such a special place – at the time the only evidence of the Vikings in North America. Incredible place.
