The Crown Jewels - just the security alone is worth seeing

The Tower of London is a huge imposing place. This was my second visit this year and this time I only walked around the outside, although in March I spent the day inside. It is a massive Norman castle occupying a defensive position on the Thames. It became famous as a high profile and high security prison, as well as the place of execution for people like Henry VIII’s unfortunate wives Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard. In one of the rooms you can visit you can see graffiti carved into the walls by famous prisoners like Arundel. It is still a fortress today, housing the Crown Jewels which are a must see part of any visit.
