Monuments at Mahabalipuram in Summer
Monuments at Mahabalipuram
In the month of May 2012 when the summer was at its peak – “AgniNakshatra” – that was when I reached Chennai to visit UNESCO sites in TN. First place I visited was Monuments at Mahabalipuram in the outskirts of Chennai. I had gone with my cousins and the place was buzzing as we chose to go on a weekend. The Monuments and the beach near by is perfect drive on a weekend evening for Chennai-ites. Along with the city crowd, tourists from other parts of TN also contributed the crowd. I so wished the place was more peaceful. One thing that was more noticable about the place than the UNESCO site itself was the litter around. I felt ashamed on how it was maintained. Anyways, I was meeting my cousins after a long time and hence we had good fun and we were least bothered about the crowd. We drove down from Chennai spent the whole evening and started towards Chennai after sunset.
