On the road to Mamalla

Cool breeze in my hair

Warm smell of the sea

Rising up through the air

Up ahead in the distance

I saw a mile-stone reading 35

Rejoicing, patting my bike,

I felt lighter and came alive

There it stood, the archway

A scaffolding for a rally that day

And I thought to myself,

“Get out before the soiree”

Then I drove a ‘7-seater’ along the way

There were voices down the narrow roadway

I thought I heard them say…

Welcome to the Hotel Mamalla (Yeah! Yeah! )

Such a lovely place

Such a lovely place

Plenty of room at the Hotel Mamalla

This time of the year

It’s a furnace here..

His smile was a little-twisted, he got the TVS Luna

The ‘Fisherman’s restaurant’, a stone’s throw from the sea

And he served fresh tuna

Some eat to live, but this, you’d live to eat.

So I parked my punctured Huffy against a wall

And borrowed Naga Muthu’s ride

Visiting the stone marvels at noon didn’t exactly enthrall

The stones seemed to mock at me and I heard them chide

Welcome to the Hotel Mamalla (Oooh..Yeah! )

Such a lovely place

Such a lovely place

We’re livin it up at the Hotel Mamalla!

You’re in a blazing furnace!

What did you expect? Xmas?

From the carved monoliths, I went around the streets,

For a break from the delightful myths

And got to pull a little temple chariot before heading back to the beach retreat!

In a place called ‘Moonraker’,

I waited for my afternoon treat

Which was a Chocolate flavored pancake

Ate it with the fork and steel knife

And it was something I just couldn’t partake

Last thing I remember, I was

opening a cargo auto’s door

I had to load my bicycle back

To return where I was before

“Relax,” said the auto-wallah

“People here are programmed to receive

You can ride out anytime you want,

But you just can never leave!”
