Yakushima

Yakushima

Beautiful Shiratani unsuikyo forest (possibly the most difficult to pronounce name in the Japanese language). Part of the world heritage forest on remote Yakushima island, apparently Miyazaki’s film Princess Mononoke was inspired by this location. The deer are wary but generally unafraid of people.
