St_Andrew's_Church,_Egmore,_ChennaiAS PER THE TASK TO EXPLORE THE UNEXPLORED, I WENT TO MY ASSIGNED SITE ST.ANDREW’S CHURCH, ALONG WITH MY FRIENDS KRISHNA AND ARIVAZHZGAN WHICH IS LOCATED IN POONAMALLEE HIGH ROAD, EGMORE, CHENNAI. IT WAS THE CHURCH BUILT FOR THE SCOTTISH COMMUNITY WHO WORKED FOR EAST INDIA COMPANY. A CHURCH WITH 194 YEARS OF HISTORY.

DURING THIS VISIT, WE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT SOME PLACES IN CHENNAI, WHERE WE HAVE NEVER BEEN BEFORE. FINDING THE WAY TO REACH THE CHURCH ITSELF WAS A NICE EXPERIENCE. WE WERE ALSO CURIOUS ABOUT EXPLORING NEW PLACES OTHER THAN REGULAR PLACES.

IMG_6484

ACTUALLY WE THREE HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A CHURCH BEFORE. SO WHEN WE HAD ENTERED THE CHURCH, WE FELT AND EXPERIENCED SOMETHING DIFFERENT. A WHOLE NEW WORLD.

IMG_6611

THE HUGE DOME AND THE FLUTED PILLARS WITH CORINTHIAN CAPITAL SUPPORTING THE DOME, THE STAINED GLASS AND CARVING DETAILS WAS INTERESTING. IT IS A LIVE STUDY OF GEORGIAN ARCHITECTURE.

IMG_6499

THEN WE ROAMED AROUND THE CHURCH AND DISSCUSSED ABOUT THE ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS AND ITS DETAILING FOR SOMETIME.

IMG_6472

WE EVEN ATTENDED THE PROGRAMES OVER THERE. IT WAS REALY A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE AND IN THE LAST, SOME GUYS WERE PLAYING SOME MUSIC AND CHOIR SANG A PRAYER SONG .WE ENJOYED TAKING PART IN THAT.

I REALLY THANK GOUNESCO CORE TEAM FOR GIVING ME AN OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE THIS ARCHITECTURAL WONDER…
